Airsoft as a Recognised European Sport
Airsoft is evolving across Europe from a recreational activity into an organised, rules-based sport. That development requires more than enthusiasm. It requires national federations, transparent governance, credible safety standards, trained officials, responsible event organisers, and competition formats that can be applied consistently across borders.
The European Airsoft Federation exists to support that transition. Its role is to strengthen the status and practice of airsoft in Europe, to promote airsoft as both a sport and a responsible recreational activity, and to represent affiliated national organizations before public authorities, institutions and stakeholders.
For governments and public authorities, the decisive question is not whether airsoft is popular or exciting. The decisive question is whether airsoft is organised, safe, accountable and capable of regulating itself.
The EAF’s answer is clear: airsoft can be governed responsibly when it is embedded in recognised national organizations, played under enforceable safety rules, supervised by trained officials, documented through transparent procedures, and supported by clear standards for events, equipment, conduct and incident reporting. Through this structure, airsoft can demonstrate that it is not an unmanaged activity, but a disciplined European sport community capable of cooperation, oversight and continuous improvement.
